True Custom Made vs. Made-to-Measure

12. What is the Difference Between GIORGENTI True Custom Made and Made-to-Measure (MTM)?

True Custom means your garment is built from your own individual pattern based on your body, your posture, shoulder slope, and your overall physique. Made-to-Measure (MTM) only adjusts a pre-existing pattern with very minimal changes

How Long Does It Take to Make A GIORGENTI Custom Made Sport Coat?

FeatureTrue Custom (GIORGENTI)Made-to-Measure
Personal body pattern✅ Yes❌ No
Body mapping✅ Yes❌ No
Full measurement system✅ 23+ measurements⚠️ Limited measurements
Posture, shoulder slope, arm pitch✅ Included❌ Ignored
Fit precision✅ Exact⚠️ Average
Great for all body types✅ Yes❌ No
One-on-one design✅ Yes⚠️ Often limited

13. What Makes GIORGENTI Different from Made-to-Measure Brands?

Unlike MTM companies, we do not guess your fit by adjusting a stock pattern. We engineer your fit using a personal body pattern built from scratch.

✅ Full measurement system
✅ Body balance and posture evaluation
✅ Shoulder slope correction
✅ Waist suppression and chest shaping
✅ Sleeve pitch adjustment
✅ Custom proportions to flatter your frame

Result: clothing that is well fitted, sharp, and made only for you.

Measurements & Pattern Engineering

Every GIORGENTI garment begins with precision measurements and body mapping. Unlike general alterations or made-to-measure shortcuts, we study the structure of your body so we can design clothing that fits properly and comfortably.

14. What Measurements Do You Take for a Custom Garment?

We take over 23 precise body measurements to engineer your personal pattern, Including:

  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Shoulders
  • Waist
  • Seat
  • Hips
  • Bicep
  • Wrist
  • Thigh
  • Knee
  • Calf

We also evaluate:

  • Shoulder slope: regular, square, or sloped
  • Posture: average, stooped, or erect
  • Arm pitch: average, forward, or back
  • Torso length and balance: long, short, or balanced

These critical elements determine fit, balance, and posture alignment for your garment.

15. What is Body Mapping and Why Does it Matter?

Body mapping identifies nuances in your frame that affect fit, such as:

  • Uneven shoulders
  • Forward head posture
  • Rounded or square shoulders
  • Muscular chest or arms
  • Regular seat, prominent seat, or flat seat
  • Weight distribution
  • Stance and leg alignment

These factors are not corrected in suits off-the-rack, or made-to-measure garments. We correct these for you through intricate precise pattern engineering.

16. Who Takes the Measurements?

All measurements are taken by highly trained GIORGENTI custom clothiers inside our private showroom.

17. Where Do I Get Measured?

We measure clients in person at our Garden City showroom located in Nassau County, Long Island, NY.
We proudly serve clients from Suffolk County, Queens, Brooklyn, NYC, and across the metro Tri-State area.

Fittings, Alterations & Policies

18. How Many Fittings are Required?

Most clients require just one fitting, thanks to our precision measuring system. If fine-tuning is needed, it is handled professionally in-house.

19. Are Alterations Included?

Yes. Any fit adjustments at the time of your fitting are included with your custom order.
If adjustments are made, we update your personal pattern, so your next order requires little to no changes.

If your body weight changes in the future and you request additional tailoring, a tailoring fee applies.

20. How Long Do Alterations Take?

Alterations are completed in-house and generally take one week.

21. What is the Process for Future Reorders?

Once your pattern is finalized, reordering is easy. We keep your measurements and patterns securely on file.
For best results, we ask you to bring in your most recent garments so we can review fit and make any final adjustments.

22. What if a Garment Cannot be Corrected?

In the rare case a garment cannot be corrected, we will remake it.

23. Can An Order Be Canceled After It Has Entered Production?

No. Once fabric has been cut and your garment has entered production, it cannot be canceled because it was made exclusively for you.

24. Does GIORGENTI Offer Refunds?

No. We do not offer refunds on custom-made clothing, as each garment is individually made for the client.
We do offer store credit on “accessories only.”

25. Does GIORGENTI Do Alterations on Garments Not Made by GIORGENTI?

We offer free alterations at the time of fitting. However, if a customer gains or loses 15 pounds or more after they’ve been measured at the initial fitting, they will be charged for alterations.

35. How Does GIORGENTI Handle Charge Backs?

If we get a charge back, we will vigorously and legally defend our position that the garments were commissioned by the client, approved at the time of the fitting and left our showroom.
